Atelier Canvas is provided by SamEarth, LLC. The app does not require an account and includes no advertising, tracking, or third-party analytics SDKs. We do not sell your personal information.
What stays on your device
Your collection searches, recent searches, museum selections, Favorites references and credits, display preferences, and collection availability results are saved locally. Downloaded artwork and related metadata are cached on your device for playback. Adaptive sizing, image-dimension checks, and appearance suggestions are processed on your device. These local records are not sent to a SamEarth account or database. Favorites do not sync through a SamEarth cloud service. Saving a favorite stores its reference and metadata; its image uses the same limited cache as other artwork.
Connections to museums
Searching, loading artwork, and checking source availability connect directly to museum APIs and image services. Those providers receive relevant search terms and ordinary connection information, such as your IP address and request details. Some searches use a bundled catalog locally, but images still require a provider connection unless cached. Providers may maintain logs under their own policies.
Current sources are the Art Institute of Chicago, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Cleveland Museum of Art, Rijksmuseum, National Gallery of Art, Yale Center for British Art, Wikimedia Commons, and J. Paul Getty Museum. Provider information and terms are linked on our content and sources page.
Links, QR codes, and Siri
Opening a museum or support link, or scanning a QR code with another device, connects to that website under its privacy practices. Siri and App Shortcuts are handled by Apple under Apple's policies and your device settings.
Apple and TestFlight
Apple distributes the app and manages TestFlight feedback and diagnostics under its own policies. If you send beta feedback, Apple may make that feedback and related diagnostic information available to us.
Support email
If you contact us, we receive your email address and the information you choose to send. We use it to respond and troubleshoot. Keep private information out of support messages and screenshots.
Storage and deletion
You can remove an entry from Favorites by selecting its Saved heart again. This removes the saved reference; an already downloaded image may remain in the shared cache until it is cleared or evicted. You can remove local app data by deleting the app from the device. Copies in device backups are managed through Apple and your backup settings. Artwork caches are also limited and may be cleared by the app or operating system.
This website
Visiting these pages connects to our website hosting provider, Firebase Hosting by Google. The provider may process ordinary connection and service information to deliver and protect the website. This is separate from artwork requests in the app. These pages do not add advertising or analytics scripts.
